The short version

Árd Sauna and Wellness is an outdoor sauna and cold plunge courtyard on the Longford Road in Granard, in the north of County Longford. Sessions run 50 minutes for up to 15 people, with a row of plunge tubs, outdoor showers, changing rooms and lockers. It opens seven days a week, evenings on weekdays and all day at weekends, which makes it the easiest Longford sauna to fit around work.

What sets it apart

Árd is the only sauna in County Longford open every day of the week, and the one that takes the biggest groups: up to fifteen people a session, against eight at The Sweaty Yeti.

The name is the Irish word for high, a nod to Granard's motte, the Norman earthwork on the hill above the town. The courtyard is laid out around a line of cold plunge tubs, so a full session rarely means waiting for the cold.
